Ageing Matters is dedicated to understanding the needs and aspirations for seniors’ care and accommodation.

What we do

Ageing Matters is a listening post on factors affecting the care and accommodation needs of older Australians. We conduct three surveys a year and summarise feedback to help providers improve their service provision.

Our surveys are:

Home Care                                   -             Feb/March each year

Retirement Living                       -             June/July each year

Residential Aged Care             -             Oct/Nov each year

Why get involved

Learning: Our respondents tell us they learn new things doing our surveys. The questions are also a valuable opportunity to think through important care and accommodation issues for yourself or a family member

Contributing: Our reports are a credible source of insight, helping providers understand what consumers want and how needs are changing. We help drive industry improvements and share feedback with industry associations like COTA and thinktanks like UTS Ageing Research Collaborative (UARC)

Rewards: It’s not the main thing, but we send out gift vouchers after each survey to a number of respondents as a thank you. We favour folk who give us great comments … not the longest comments, but something insightful. You can see lists of previous recipients here.

Feedback: We’re starting to publish summaries so respondents get an insight into survey results. You can see recent reports here.

What else?

We’re independent. No-one is pulling our strings. We’re happy to give strong advice to those who can improve the lives of older Australians.

We’re fiercely protective of our contact lists and survey responses. List members will receive three survey invitations a year but:

  • we will never share details with a third party

  • no-one will contact you eg. sales calls based on responding to our surveys

  • your name will not be used in our reports

  • you can ignore any of our survey invitations, and even unsubscribe if you don’t want to hear from us (we’ll be a bit sad though)

Our surveys are a little on the long side (sorry) but most questions can be skipped.

Email address and phone number are here and on our survey invitations if you want to verify we’re real. But take into account we’re in WA. A 9am Sydney call is 6am during Summer. Kevin might be counting sheep if Maggie (Kelpie) and Noah (Greyhound cross)  haven’t already woken him up.
